I had the pleasure of working with Rae & Steve, sweet friends that I’ve gotten to know over the last (nearly!) two years! They decided on an elopement-style ceremony keeping it very small, intimate, and private. This little nook at a local park instantly came to my mind and as soon as they saw it, knew it was the perfect fit for their nuptials. On a beautiful late spring day in June, at this absolutely jaw droppingly beautiful spot overlooking the Hudson River, they said their hand written vows and became hubby and wifey. Just a few close friends and family witnessed this special ceremony and I was so honored to be included! And a few weeks later they threw a killer backyard party to celebrate their new marriage in style with all their friends and family.
Overgrown stone walls, rolling grassy hills, and gorgeous Hudson River views at their ceremony spot set the design tone for all the other details. The bride wanted all wild flowers with just a bright bouquet and boutonniere as the pop of color against the nature backdrop. Not to mention that the bright flowers complemented her Manolo Blahnik pumps (don’t mind me drooling over here, I mean did you see that floral print?!)
We furiously checked the weather forecasts everyday. They didn’t look so good, but boy did we luck out with the weather that day! Rain clouds threatened the entire afternoon but we watched them pass just north of us. The soft gray lighting from the storm clouds made for lovely photos until the sun finally peeked out right after they said “I do!” Which of course meant that they got the most gorgeous golden hour lighting for more couple portraits! How romantic is that enormous tree canopy?!
The newlyweds popped a bottle of champagne to celebrate, clinking matching bride & groom toasting flutes, then cut their adorable raspberry mousse cake. Who could resist such a cute and fun colored springtime-y cake? When you take a peek at all the other photos from their day, find the ones of the champagne cork shooting out! I promise those are totally candid faces – it was hilarious.
